Jesus speaking in Matthew 5:22:
But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
And the big Jay-C again a few chapters later, in Matthew 23:17:
Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?
Hmm. I suppose it’s sometimes a bit confusing trying to keep up with all the stuff that contradicts the other stuff.
If I as a sinful man call another man “fool” I am in danger of being thrown into hell myself by God for so judging another man.
Jesus, the Son of God, judged the teachers of the law and Pharisee’s who sat on the seat of Moses by calling them “blind fools” as he pronounced seven woes upon them.
Only God has the authority to raise one man up to eternal life and cast another man into the fire of hell.
Oh, so it’s one rule for humans and another for the omnipotent creator of all things, is it?
Tsk, bloody double standards.
You’re looking for consistency or commonsense in the Bible? You fool! (Hmm… is it a tad warm in here?)
I prefer it when John the Baptist calls the people he’s baptizing a brood of vipers, personally. I can’t wait to use that one in my sermons! ;-)
